Transportation: What We Offer
Wisconsin Decision Driving Center

In partnership with Fox Valley Technical College (Appleton, WI), Marsh offers this unique opportunity to experience firsthand the driving skills required to handle vehicles under adverse conditions while in a controlled environment.  Workshops are conducted on a road course designed by safety engineers to simulate common emergency situations that test a driver's limitations and a vehicle's capabilities.  After 2 1/2 hours of classroom training and discussion,  participants proceed to the road course for actual behind-the-wheel exercises.

Program Scope

Experienced and new drivers, driver trainers, dispatchers, safety managers, risk managers, and upper management will discover their personal driving limitations by experiencing actual emergency situations on a safe, off-street driving range under the guidance of qualified instructors.  Insurance representatives have experienced the program so they can relate to the challenges and issues their clients may need to deal with, as well as the transportation industry as a whole.

Areas of practical techniques are:

  • Controlled braking
  • Off-road recovery
  • Evasive maneuvers
  • Handling dry and slippery curves
  • Skid control
  • Reaction time and vehicle braking distance
  • Vehicle dynamics and control
  • Jackknife recovery (truck workshops)

Program Benefits

Overall driving skills will be improved by learning how to:

  • Recognize potentially dangerous situations
  • Maintain rational thinking when a hazard or emergency situation exists
  • Utilize techniques to avoid collisions or minimize damage
  • Control the vehicle under adverse conditions

Wisconsin Decision Driving Center tuition is paid by Marsh (lunch at the campus cafeteria is included).  Marsh hosts a dinner the evening prior to the session as a means to have participants get acquainted.  Participants are responsible for transportation and lodging.

Sessions are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Please contact Richard Bleser (414-290-4920) for available dates and registration information.
