Case Study:
Hotel Slashes Workers Comp Claims by 85 Percent
A hotel client with locations throughout the country was experiencing exorbitant workers compensation claims at one of their hotels, exceeding $2.1 million in claims costs in one policy year. Marsh's Hospitality Practice spent several days reviewing and analyzing the hotel's housekeeping methods.
The on-site review revealed a number of performance issues which were contributing to the housekeeping staff's injuries. To rectify the workers' behavior, Marsh implemented a new risk management program that included a week of intensive, hotel-wide safety training. With these measures in place, Marsh was able to reduce the client's workers compensation claims costs by $1.8 million in just one year.
