Natural disasters can present enormous challenges to a firm's overall business strategy and its risk management programs. Mitigating the potential for natural catastrophe destruction and disruption helps inform a wide range of decisions, including locating facilities, managing supply chains, and structuring and marketing insurance programs. As companies prepare for the approach of the 2009 hurricane season, they should also be aware of significant recent changes in the National Flood Insurance Program and in earthquake modeling.
To highlight these current issues in natural disaster risk management, Marsh invites you and your colleagues to join us on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, for The New Reality of Risk panel discussion, "Natural Disaster Risk Management – Current Issues for Hurricane, Flood and Earthquake Perils." We are pleased to announce that Dr. Phil Klotzbach of Colorado State University’s Tropical Meteorology Project will join us to discuss the latest forecasts for the 2009 hurricane season. Other experts will discuss the state of the natural catastrophe insurance marketplace, risk modeling, and valuation considerations in the current economy.
Scheduled speakers include:
- Duncan Ellis, leader of Marsh's Property Practice
- Dr. Paolo Bazzurro, AIR Worldwide
- Fletcher MacGregor, leader of Marsh Risk Consulting's Natural Hazards Practice
- Kevin McCarthy, managing director with Marsh Risk Consulting's Forensic Accounting and Claims Services Practice
