Entering the family of Marsh companies as a recent college graduate means learning, achieving, sharing and advancing. The people below are brilliant examples of that. Their testimonials are intended to provide you with a realistic preview of what working at Marsh is like.
How does your experience at Marsh differentiate from your other classmates who took different opportunities?
"Compared to my classmates at Spelman, I haven't aged as much as they have. I talk to my friends all the time, and they are all questioning if they made the right decision — I don't have any of those concerns. I found a perfect fit for myself while my old classmates are wondering if they should have interviewed with Marsh.
Also, I really enjoy Atlanta — I think it is a great city and there are so many different people here. Marsh Atlanta would support you if you felt strongly about going to another location, but this is my first choice. Plus, here I get to enjoy that famous Southern Hospitality."

What are some of the rewarding challenges you encounter?
"I talk to COO's and CFO's. It is a lot of responsibility for someone my age. I get to work hands on with key people at the companies we serve, adding real value to their organizations. Some of my clients don't realize just how important insurance is, so part of my job is to walk them through the process and help them understand how their businesses will benefit from our services. A lot of my friends who went to investment banking are working ridiculous schedules. I think it seems less rewarding because the do all this work, but they do not get recognition for a job well done. At Marsh, they praise you when you work hard and do well. You know you are being recognized and appreciated. For me, the most rewarding part of the job is when you get new business. It is really exciting because you are racing against the clock, and many times you are competing against other brokers out there. It is a great environment for people who like to challenge themselves."

How does Marsh assist with your professional development?
"The Intern and Risk Analyst Program are like what you would see at a big investment banking firm, but after the training is over at those firms, the trainees are more on the supportive end of their staff — taking more of background analyst and paperwork. At Marsh, we are given the opportunity to not only do the analysis, but also deliver it to our clients. I am also taking advantage of Marsh's commitment to continuing education. I have started taking designation exams and Marsh pays for everything. But I think the most valuable educational opportunity that Marsh provides is being on the job and interfacing with clients."
